These belonged to my mom. Anything that belonged to my mom I have a hard time letting go of (except for those creepy nutcrackers...sissy you can keep those!) so I knew I had to figure out what to do with these little Christmas houses. I wanted to use them in my Christmas/winter decorating this year but the colors and look of them were not quite right. So I decided to give them a little makeover. I am quire sure my mom bought them from Goodwill herself, so I know they were not any kind of expensive collectable... so I had not problem giving them a nice fresh coat of white paint. Then I added some glue to the "snowy" areas and sprinkled on some fine glitter. Voilà! Instant updated Christmas village. 😊 I added some small battery powered tea-light candles. They are on display in my kitchen on my floating shelves. I really like how they turned out. And it was super easy! I set these little figurines next to the houses. I had painted them for my mom when I was young. She had kept them (cause we keep everything) and I found them after she had died when we were going through Christmas stuff one year. I quickly grabbed them and knew I had to keep them. I remember giving them to her and she just loved them. Such BIG memories from such small little things. That is how a lot of "Good Stuff" ends up in my decorating. The stories and memories. If you want to see the rest of the decorating for Christmas 2022 you can read that too in my post It's Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas. I hope your Christmas is filled with warm memories OLD & NEW!

Our mom was a junker.... We are junkers too. We like "Good Stuff" like old tablecloths, pretty plates, things with snarky sayings, painted furniture, and pretty much anything with a story to tell. This is our story, or what we like to call "Our Tale." You can find even more stories here on these blog pages about "re" design ideas I try, and all the mistakes I make along the way! Categories
