Fall 2022 Home Tour...

11/11/2022

Well this is not really a big reveal or anything, but I am trying to learn to do videos better... So I did a few videos of a couple of rooms to try it out. I like seeing how things change from season to season and year to year, so this is kind of fun for me.

My style is probably best described as DO WHAT YOU WANT. (My diet kind of goes this way too, but I am not sure that is a good thing.) I like mixing old and new and found and (in this house) BLUE! You will see lots of other colors too. I do admire a neutral color palette... but I love color!

In the fall I fill my rooms with lots of yellow, oranges, greens, and browns. I like how warm and cozy it feels. This becomes the foundation for the fall decorating I do and then I can easily layer in a couple of special things specifically for Halloween and Thanksgiving. It makes it easy to switch those items in and out.

The Living Room

Most of the items I decorate with are treasures I have been gifted by my mom or things I have "found" at secondhand stores or thrift shops. (The things from my mom most likely are second hand as well.) BTW: Found doesn't mean they were free, but they for sure cost much lest then retail value.

My sister and I call them "found treasures" because shopping second hand is like a treasure hunt. You never know what you are going to find and you never know what kind of bargain you might get. It's what makes it so fun!!

Sometimes I "up-cycle" or "repurpose" things I find. So the little votive candles with the stars and moons I made using Mod-Podge and some cool paper I found at a little shop near my home called Urban Cottage. They are an occasional store selling secondhand vintage items. I go there ever month! I absolutely love their little shop.

I am very excited to have the family together for Thanksgiving. We are planning to do things a little differently this year. More to come on our Thanksgiving sleepover and brunch!
Until next time.
Happy hunting for your gathered treasures!

    Our mom was a junker....
    We are junkers too.
We like "Good Stuff" like old tablecloths, pretty plates, things with snarky sayings, painted furniture, and pretty much anything with a story to tell.
This is our story, or what we like to call
     "Our Tale."
You can find even more stories here on these blog pages about "re" design ideas I try, and all the mistakes I make along the way!
