So being it is mid-summer and all... (not sure how that happened) I decided I should share how I have been "Decking Out the Deck" these past few weeks. Just a reminder, my camera sucks. But here is what I have been doing. This is the deck BEFORE I started Decking it Out! We have a few nice furniture pieces, but there was definitely room for improvement. The deck railing was very worn and needed a good sanding and painting. I used Peel Stop by Zinnser for the primer. Then I finished it with BEHR Exterior Paint and Primer All-in One. This is the cozy seating area I set up. I bought this set of wicker chairs from Overstock. The faded red umbrella (I will replace soon) we had and the pillows I bought a couple years ago from Home Depot. I love the side table as it holds a market umbrella. The rug I found on clearance at Target. If you look closely you can see the shed in the background that Mr. W is working on... It needs a new roof. I tried to blur it out in other pictures. We have a couple of spots for dining. This hightop set I had at my old house. I am not sure where it is from, maybe Overstock. This market umbrella is from Overstock. P.S. They don't pay to say that or anything just so you know. The set below I think was from Home Depot and the umbrella I just got from Target. I love the floral to add interest! I just love decking the deck (and pretty much everywhere) with flowers. There are flowers on the deck and hanging from the deck. I have been working on a couple of flower beds too and I will share those soon. There just can never be enough flowers! There are lights strung around the entire deck and it looks so cool at night. I will try to get an overview photo of the whole deck to document the full effect. I love how it all turned out and it is one of my favorite places to sit and relax, drink a bottle of wine, and search for new ideas for things to sell in THE SHOP!
I hope you are getting a chance to enjoy this summer! Stop and smell the flowers because it's going to be over before we know it.

Our mom was a junker.... We are junkers too. We like "Good Stuff" like old tablecloths, pretty plates, things with snarky sayings, painted furniture, and pretty much anything with a story to tell. This is our story, or what we like to call "Our Tale." You can find even more stories here on these blog pages about "re" design ideas I try, and all the mistakes I make along the way! Categories
