So I got baby chicks for myself for mother's day! I'm a chick mama now! My BFF Sara and her husband gifted us with the most beautiful chicken coop ever! It was a wedding gift and I LOVE IT! Sara's husband Nate built it himself. It is so awesome. I waited until this spring to get chickens and I couldn't be more excited! I got four chicks, we are allowed three. I just thought I would err on the side of caution... Plus they are small breeds, like two chickens = one really. Two are Polish Chickens and two are Silkies, one gray and one buff colored. I LOVE THEM! Baby ChicksI decided they are to be called the Spice Girls, and their names are Poppy (Gray Silkie), Ginger (Buff Silkie)... and the two Polish are Rosemarie, Rosie for short, and Marjoram or Marjie for short. There is a space for planing things on the coop so I am going to fill it with all kinds of herbs for the chickens to eat, hence the Spice Girls! PulletsHENS!Wednesday, October 25th at approximately 1:13 pm I discovered the first egg! Isn't it beautiful!!!! I was so excited! I discovered later that Poppy is the one laying these beauties. She is doing a great job, we have been getting about one egg a day now. Now if I can just keep them alive through the winter!

Our mom was a junker.... We are junkers too. We like "Good Stuff" like old tablecloths, pretty plates, things with snarky sayings, painted furniture, and pretty much anything with a story to tell. This is our story, or what we like to call "Our Tale." You can find even more stories here on these blog pages about "re" design ideas I try, and all the mistakes I make along the way! Categories
