I like winter. But in MN it can last way too long to end. We get those "false springs" too that trick you into thinking spring has officially sprung and then the next day it snows again. I always fall for it! Not so much because I learn things the hard way (which I do) but more because I just want to believe it is truly spring. I LOVE SPRING! Anyway, last weekend it was kinda warm... like 37 degrees or so above freezing. In MN that is considered "kinda warm" and it is perfectly normal to see folks tinkering around outside. BTW... at like 40 degrees, in the spring, MN folks will toss off their jackets and run around in shorts like it is hot. So it really was "kinda warm," at least in the sun anyway... So while I am patiently waiting to be able to start really digging in the dirt I have started doing some yard clean up! I pulled out all the old winter greens from the outdoor planters and I scooped dog poop for HOURS! And then I decided to REFRESH THE GARDEN SHED!!! I was inspired by Katrina from homegrown.garden, when I stumbled across her Garden Shed Makeover video. I don't watch you tube very often unless I am looking for something specific, but the internet gremlins were listening or something and I found myself watching a bunch of her videos about her Allotment in England! So cool!! She is brilliant and darling BTW! After the garden shed makeover video I immediately went to clean out our shed! This shed BTW... is not in the best shape! Mr. Chris had to put a new roof on it when we bought the house as it was collapsing. The cedar was never sealed so it is turning grey and the doors a warped and barely shut. We had been throwing all the outdoor stuff in there like shovels, outdoor furniture and such. It was quite a mess! Check out the little video I made of the refresh... lI am planning to add a few more things and then give the whole thing a coat of paint. I would like to add a new door with maybe a plexiglass front so there is more light. I asked Mr. Chris if he would help me with that, so stay tuned. I think it is off to a good start and ready for when we can start planting!
I will share more when it is painted! TTFN!

I suck at making New Years resolutions. Or more accurately I suck at keeping them, I guess. I can make all kinds of them, but they rarely stick. Or more accurately I rarely stick to them. T-BOMB! This year I decided to forget about making a resolution or a list of them and I decided to focus on just refreshing things... I think January is a good time for refreshing! I like to take down the Christmas decorations (I leave up some winter stuff) and then I like to start thinking about re-organizing closets, changing the bedding, repainting a room or two. OH MY GOSH DID I FORGET TO MENTION I FINALLY FINISHED PAINTING THE LIVING ROOM! YEP! Painted when I had COVID! Seemed like a smart thing to do being I couldn't smell anything and I couldn't leave the house. It was only like half the walls anyway. It turned out so nice and I am loving it. There are only two things left to finish up that room... well maybe three... Fresh coat of paint on the fireplace, replace fireplace with a gas one, and maybe new windows... ugh. But hey...the walls are so much better now. Next up... my bedroom, main-floor bathroom, and office!
Stay turned! P.S. Out with the old in with the new or slightly used means new old good stuff in THE SHOP! Occasional weekend is coming up soon! Until next time! Wishing you well. I like pretty things. I like organized things. So redoing the kitchen pantry was a must do and I am not going to lie... It makes me smile every time I open it! Even though it took a couple tries. :) My redo projects always tend to take the "hard way" route... And this one was no exception. Let me share... Pantry Redo Take One...
It was just a huge mess and it was driving me crazy! So I decided it needed to be revamped. Plus it really needed a DOOR! And I really wanted to add some of that cute peel and stick wallpaper that everyone is using now days. SOOOO CUTE! So I got started by taking everything out... Then I had Mr. Chris hang shelves on the sides of the closet. We measured everything up so that the garbage/recycling container would fit and made sure it would be able to open. Sometimes I am smart. The shelves were easy to install. (I mean mostly because I had Mr. Chris do it.) They have metal brackets and the shelves themselves came precut from Home Depot. You just need to know what size you need. I like them because all the edges are finished and you don't need to do any cutting that way. Mr. Chris also added the louvered doors. We bought a simple bi-fold door and just moved the hinges to make it open from the middle instead of like a bi-fold typically does. Genius! He did have to do a little creative trimming on the doors to get them to fit right as they were a little bigger than the opening. As you can see I am able to fit so many things in here... I think I have like three crockpots, a blender, an Instapot, two waffle makers, a Kitchen-aid mixer, a hand mixer, and lots of baking tools. I love having this stuff where I can get to everything easily. I am WAY more likely to use these appliances and such when I know where they are and they are easy to grab. And BONUS the garbage/recycling fits in here too so I don't have to look at that all the time! AND MY BROOM! I love it is right in here to grab quickly! I had it like this for a couple of months and then when we finished the redo in the kitchen I was like... I never did put wallpaper up in that pantry... and I really wanted it to be pretty and it really seemed like it still needed some organizing, some of the bins were getting *overflowy. So I did a second redo of the pantry! Pantry Redo Take TWO!So true confessions... a.k.a. T-BOMB! Trying to hang wallpaper after you have already hung the shelves is a SUPER BAD IDEA! It was very tricky and I was only able to do the back wall. I would have liked to do all the walls, but honestly not much of the wall shows where all the baskets are so no big deal. I just love it anyway. Those lemons are just cheery and make the entire pantry just super cute. And having the doors has been a GAME CHANGER!!! So much better! It's the little things folks! So as I mentioned earlier... the WHOLE Kitchen redo is finally done... well except a couple of minor issues... So that share will be coming soon. In the meantime, if you are looking for some "Good Stuff" to add to your pantry we have a SHOP you are always welcome to check out! Glossary: *Overflowy: When crap starts falling out of your organizational containers because you have crammed too much into them. |
Our mom was a junker.... We are junkers too. We like "Good Stuff" like old tablecloths, pretty plates, things with snarky sayings, painted furniture, and pretty much anything with a story to tell. This is our story, or what we like to call "Our Tale." You can find even more stories here on these blog pages about "re" design ideas I try, and all the mistakes I make along the way! Categories
